A Cowboy's Life: Nurturing Your Child’s Passion

Nurturing Your Child’s Passion

cute cowboyOur three year old is enamored with cowboys. And of course you can’t be a cowboy unless you ride horses! So because of his deep interest in all things cowboys, we started letting him ride in Fort Worth when he turned 2. He wasn’t the least bit scared and loved every minute of it.

Seeing the joy in his eyes the first time he rode, we knew we had to continue to nurture his love for riding. We’ve continued to let him ride, take him to rodeos and ranches and he never wants to leave. Each night he falls asleep by naming all the horses he has ridden…Howie, Silver, Buttercup, Comet, Diamond, RickyBobby (his favorite), Clank and Levi. He’s been doing this for several months now and so we have been thinking about putting him in riding lessons so he can learn the ins and outs of being a real cowboy.

It's funny how children find an attachment to something that we, as parents, would never have thought. This is one of the main reasons I started this blog because our son helped us all figure out what we want to be when we grow up. What activities are your kids into?

  4. He's got the cowboy stance already! My son so love traffic signs and he is just obsessed with them drawing them and all his toys are connected to them and he even reads those learn how to ride books. He is happy to be playing with them and we support him too with this love. =) #WW

  5. I couldn't love this post more! The photos you shared are too cute :) Your little cowboy is adorable! It is so important to support him in his passion no matter what age he is. My son is more into being a firefighter right now, but he loves riding horses too. Once you get him up there you have to pry him out of the saddle!
