A Cowboy's Life: Finding Joy in Chaos

Finding Joy in Chaos

finding joy in chaos

My son seems to enjoy getting EVERY SINGLE toy out of his room and scatter them around the living room. Sometimes I just find this extremely frustrating! I mean why does he have to be so messy, loud and going non-stop all day? Does he really need his airplanes, constructions trucks, puzzles, blocks, golf clubs and 30 different balls out all at the same time?

The other day after he had turned the living room into what looked like a tornado had come through; I had to take a moment for myself. But once I took a long, deep breathe and looked around I realized it wasn’t really that bad.

Even in the chaos I could still find the joy. I am thankful that I have a house Carson can play in and food for him to eat. A healthy son who is able to make a mess. A job that provides me money to purchase him all the toys he doesn’t need. But mainly thankful to have such a loving family to be chaotic with.

Sure I would like him to pick up after himself after each activity, but let’s be honest – never going to happen! Will he ever learn to use his inside voice? Maybe one day. But I guess in the end these little annoyances are what I love about the little guy. What fun would it be if he always whispered and never made a mess?

How do you find joy in the middle of chaos?

  2. Your blog is adorable and so unique!! I'm so glad I stumbled upon it today.

My son is 2 and we are really struggling through potty training. I'm finding joy in those moments by reminding myself that these are the days I'll look back on fondly when he's off to college and I'm missing him. Just a little reminded to appreciate every moment. Even the challenging ones.

  5. I have 3 boys and 1 girl, 16, 12, 2, and 6 with our last due in March. My life, our like is constantly chaotic, so,times it's hard to find the joy. Taking a step back, a few deep breaths helps me to remember the joy, everything I have to be thankful for, how much I love my babies. Hearing other Moms stories is something that helps me not to give up, knowing that we are all going through chaotic moments with our kids makes me feel so much better. Thanks for sharing and putting a smile on my face :)

  6. I can totally relate. It seems we clean up and then it's messy again in two seconds. Glad you were able to take a moment for yourself and find the beauty in the mess its so hard to do.

  7. Oh my goodness, I can sooo relate.... I find myself sweeping four times a day sometimes.... and my car often looks a bomb exploded in it....but then those sweet little kisses and belly laughs make me realise what parenting is truly about.
