Christmas Traditions

I just love everything about Christmas. It really is the most magical time of the year. But my most favorite thing about the holidays is the traditions my family has created. Here are my top 5 traditions:
  1. Decorating. We decorate our house the day after Thanksgiving every year and I always make mini quiche, chex mix, rotel and served with ice cold glass Cokes.
  2. Stockings. My mom still uses the same stockings she made for us since we were born. I love that I have had the same stocking at my parents house for the past 33 years. She still makes stockings for each grandkid and searches through the fabric store looking for the ugliest fabric because she wants them to match the ones she has made in the 70's and 80's!
  3. Pancakes. On Christmas morning we drive over for a pancake breakfast that my father in-law makes. Only requirement is that you wear pajamas.
  4. Santa. We head over to Leonard's, a museum featuring artifacts from the old department store, and get our picture with Santa. It's wonderful to step back in time for a moment.
  5. Giving. We fill a shoe box for Operation Christmas Child up with goodies for a child in need. Carson helps pick out the items as we try to teach him that Christmas is about giving and how blessed he really is.
What are your favorite Christmas traditions?

  3. I'm terrible at making pancakes on my own (they never come out looking like pancakes), so I love the pancake breakfasts! :]

  4. I also have the same stockings every year for my kids and make new ones when a grandchild is born. They all stay at my house on my banister! One of our traditions that just my husband and son and I do is to have a seafood dinner on Christmas Eve after church and open one gift.

    1. I love having the same stocking, especially since they are handmade. Sea food dinner sounds amazing, we may have to do that one year.

  5. I love all your traditions! We do various holiday events in the area, Elf on the Shelf (I know), crepes on Christmas morning, and Christmas movies and stories almost every night in December. We really should spread it throughout the year, it's almost too much!

  6. Pancakes in PJs that is a great idea! I need to think of something like that for Christmas Breakfast. We do stockings, Christmas Eve in a box, and advent calendars
