A Cowboy's Life: Country Heaven, If Only For A Few Days

Country Heaven, If Only For A Few Days

High Hope Ranch

We spent a few days last week relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views of High Hope Ranch in Glen Rose, TX. The ranch is 1130 acres of wildlife sanctuary situated in the Texas Hill Country with dramatic overlooks. We spent our days exploring the mini Stone Henge, digging for fossils, watching the wildlife and drinking coffee while enjoying the view from our balcony.

It was so peaceful to fall asleep to the sound of falling rain each night and wake up to the fog rolling in from the bluffs below. Each time we left the ranch we had to bribe Carson by letting him drive down the dirt road to the fence and promises of seeing a bunch of deer. Can you blame him for not wanting to leave?

The house we stayed in was called Mata'Zamo, which is Swahili for high up and far-afield. It is beautifully decorated, family friendly and has stunning views. It also has a barn with several stalls to accommodate horses if needed. The screened-in patio lit with Christmas lights is the perfect place to enjoy dinner, while listening to the many birds surrounding you.
Glen Rose Vacation

Going through all these pictures makes me want to plan another vacation there soon! We would love to go back in the spring and explore the many bike and hiking trails. With two other homes that feature a yoga studio, hot tub and sauna, it's the perfect mixture of outdoorsy and luxury.
