Top 5 Tips For Shopping Consignment & Giveaway8:59:00 AM
We all know that shopping for children can get really expensive and a little depressing when you realize how much you are spending on clothes that they are going to ruin or outgrow in a few short months. That's why I do some of my shopping at Just Between Friends Fort Worth, which is Texas' largest children's consignment sale. The next sale is Thursday, March 5 - Monday, March 9 (full schedule here) at Will Rogers Memorial Center in the Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall.
First time parents, grandparents, volunteers and sellers can sign-up for a presale pass! You find all the details here. You can also download this coupon for free admission.
Here a few tips on purchasing second-hand items for kids:
Make a shopping list. Take an inventory of your child’s clothes and determine what they need for the upcoming season. It won’t be as overwhelming to search through all the racks if you go in knowing what you are looking to purchase.
Set a budget. With such great deals and finds, it can be easy to overspend. Remember to double check all your purchases before you check out to make sure you are staying within your budget.
Shop early. If you are looking for very specific items, make sure you are at the sale as soon as the doors open. If possible you can sign up as a volunteer in exchange for a presale pass.
Inspect the products. These sales have a strict policy of only accepting gently used items, but it’s still important to examine each item before purchasing. Always double-check to make sure the clothes and shoes are the correct size. A consigner may have mistyped a size and you end up buying a 4T instead of a 5T.
Bring a bag. It can be tiresome going through all the racks with armloads of clothes, shoes and books. Most consignment sales do not offer shopping carts or bags so you will need to bring your own.
