Importance Of A Name5:00:00 AM
Names have always been important to me. Names are significant because they are a definition and description of the person and their traits. So when it came time for my husband and I to decide on a name for our son, it wasn’t something we took lightly. Sure we wanted something cute, but also a name our son would be proud of. A name that he could uphold.
I worked at a daycare all through college and I saw my fair share of adorable little kids and some not so adorable. Because of this, I told my husband we couldn’t use any names of the kids I had in daycare because I could always find something I didn’t like. Oh that kid picked his boogers, that kid ran funny, that kid had a nervous tick, etc.
So before we could really decide on a name we had to come up with what we were looking for:
- Start with the letter C – we would then all have the same initials
- It couldn’t be a common name – both my husband and I have unique enough names that no one else in class had the same name and we wanted that for our child
- Had to be real – as in not a made up celebrity name
So after figuring out what we liked and didn't like, we decided on the name Carson. Below is the meaning of his name. Even though he is only 3 years old, it completely fits him and describes his personality.
Cultural Origin: Anglo-Saxon
Inherent Meaning: Diligent One
Spiritual Connotation: Loyal and Faithful
Life Verse: John 15:16 – Ye have not chosen me, I have chosen you and ordained you, but ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the father in my name, He may give it to you.
How did you decide on your kids name? Are meanings important to you?
