I love the holiday season! Not only is it a good excuse to get to together with friends and family, but it is also the perfect reason to make your favorite desserts. Mine include Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pies paired with my favorite cider recipe.

My family will be celebrating Thanksgiving and then two days later will have a family Christmas. Hey, when your family is scattered all across the country you do what you have to do. This will be the first time in four years that my parents will have all the kids and their family under one roof, so it certainly a time for celebration. Plus you know it will be a good time when we can all sit around catching up and sharing a slice of pie.

With the craziness of life and preparing a pie from scratch is just not going to happen. So while I was on my weekly shopping trip to Walmart I picked up a couple of Marie Callender’s® Southern Pecan Pies and Reddi-wip® and all the ingredients for the cider.

To make this cider you will need:
1 gallon apple juice
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp whole cloves
1 orange slices
4 Cinnamon Sticks

1.      Combine all ingredients in large pot. Stir until brown sugar is mixed well.
2.      Turn on low for 1-2 hours.
3.      Before serving remove cloves and cinnamon sticks.
To make apple cups:
1.      Cut the top off of the apple and remove the core.
2.      Dip the top of the apple in the cider and then cover the rim with brown sugar.
3.      Pour in the cider and serve with a cinnamon stick.

Not only does your house smell delicious from the pie and cider, but everyone will be elated that you brought the best dessert to the party!
