I had a chance to try out Creation Crate, a tech education subscription box, and learning about building electronics. This program gives students a change to learn circuits, programming and engineering. I have little experience with programming and was up for the challenge!
DETAILS ON CREATION CRATE
Cost: $30
What is it: A subscription box service aimed at ages 12 and up to learn how to build electronics. No prior knowledge or experience is needed and each box comes with instructions and exercises to get a deeper understanding of what you built.
What you get: Each box is slightly different but has 3 main components. The UNO (a pocket-sized computer), various components such as wires and the instruction manual.
My Creation Crate was a DIY Mood Lamp. Once I added all the components as instructed, I had to then write the program to make it work. You download the free program from the instructions and start typing in the code that is give. Which once done it will turn colors in the dark.
It took a little over an hour to work on the project and make sure I had every wire in the correct spot and make sure I had no errors in the coding. I feel this box would be perfect for budding engineers or as part of your homeschool curriculum.
